On Saturday, (10/30/21) we finally went fishing! We were finally able to get together after all of these busy weeks! Overall, we would both rate it a 0/10 for many sorts of reasons. Before we got to the pond, we had to fix our fishing poles because with the ones that we wanted to use, the spinning reel was left-handed. So, we had to switch them to right-handed. Melia did all of this heavy work and it surprisingly did not take forever to do. Hailey sat back and watched the show... (as she should, lol) Melia: "I was aggravated at first because nothing was unscrewing, but when I finally used my brain and thought that I should probably use tools, it was easy to switch and I was proud of myself for doing it by myself." It was also rainy, windy, and cold, and we did not catch any fish. We went fishing at the Kinderton pond in Advance with the doubt that there would not be any fish. Hailey thought that there was fish because she had been fishing there before. (BTW.. if you want to go fishing, we both DO NOT recommend going to Kinderton. #WasteOfTime). We both thought we each had a bite during some point of fishing, but we are now thinking that the hook got caught on the bottom or on something. Overall Feelings: Hailey: "There are literal fish in that pond. I have gone fishing there before, and there is no way that all of the fish just died and disappeared. I, Hailey Johnson, strongly believe that there are fish in the Kinderton pond. Melia Privett is solely wrong to say that there are no fish in the pond when I HAVE LITERALLY BEEN FISHING THERE!" Melia: "I was super excited to go fishing because surprisingly, I actually really enjoy fishing. I was very disappointed when we spent 2 hours trying to fish and caught absolutely nothing." *P.S VIDEO COMING SOON* STAY TUNED Edited on 12/05/21: Looking back, correcting some grammatical errors. Adding onto sentences that needed a little more explanation.

Hey Guys! Just wanted to keep everybody updated! We have finally posted our first golfing experience video, so be sure to check that out! (You don't want to miss out on a good laugh!)
All you have to do to find our golfing, tennis, fishing, etc experiences is to go under the "sports" tab! Be sure to go to our golf tab to see our videos and pictures that we have captured on this experience! 10/27/21 - First golfing experience video posted This weekend, 10/22-10/24 we were not able to go fishing. Once again due to our heavily busy schedules. The good news is that we are still ahead of schedule because we originally planned to do the sport 2 weeks, but we soon realized that 2 weeks was too long. Since we will be ahead of schedule, we have planned a surprise that we will do towards the end of this project. Over this past week, to keep up with our project, we have done some research about fish in general and the history of how fishing started.
Fun Facts about Fish: 1) There are over 30,000 different species of fish. 2) Fish have been on the Earth for more than 450 million years. 3) An estimated number of 15,000 fish have yet to be discovered. 4) The world's most common fish to find is a Grass Carp. 5) One of the world's rarest fish to find is a Devil Hole's Pup Fish. 6) China is the world's #1 leading fish producer. Fun Facts about the History of Fishing: 1) Ancient Egyptians would use things such as woven nets, harpoons, and even hooks to catch Nile perch, catfish, and eel. 2) Early people of India would use harpoons attached to long cords to catch their fish. Harpoons: barbed spear that is attached to a long cord, can be thrown by hand or fired by a gun 3) The first use of fishing rods can be traced as far back as 40,000 years ago. 4) The first rods were made out of six-foot long bamboo, hazel shoots, and thin flexible wood with a piece of horsehair (used as the line), and a hook was attacked to the end of it. 5) Fishing tackle was improved within the late 1600s. 6) Rods were made to be stronger and thinner in the late 1800s. Edited on 12/05/21: Looking back, correcting some grammatical errors. Adding more information about fishing and the facts about fishing. This weekend, 10/15-10/17, we were not able to do a sport due to our busy schedules. School has been catching up with us, but this has not hurt us in any way. We are ahead on our schedule, so taking a weekend off did not hurt us. We will use this time to try and map out possibilities of how we want the rest of our project to go. This week we will plan what sport we are doing next and how to prepare for that sport. One thing we do need to work on is our website. Our website is not the neatest at the moment and it needs to be cleaned up and organized. We will most likely take time to do that during our "Genius Hour Time," this upcoming Wednesday.
On Wednesday, 10/20/21, we worked on our website. We are cleaning it up as much as possible because it looks like a complete mess! We have decided to put some pictures in multiple places on our website so that people will be able to get a glimpse of our personalities. Another thing that we will be doing is editing our blog posts and making sure that everything looks really clean and neat. Overall, this has been a chill week for us. Being able to lay around and do honestly nothing can be nice at times, and very much needed. However, this weekend we are planning to fish. Personally for Hailey, she is a very impatient human being, so we will see how that turns out. This weekend's weather is in the 70s, so that is good fishing weather. We will be fishing in Kinderton. They are rumors that there are fish, and some say that there is absolutely no fish, what so ever in that pond. BUT, we are planning to catch some big dawgs! *P.S. our video for golf is coming along slowly. It is taking longer to edit than expected.* Edited on 12/05/21: Looking back, correcting some grammatical errors. Adding onto sentences that needed a little more of an explanation. On Saturday, 10/09/21, we went to the North Davie tennis courts to play some tennis! It had just finished raining so the courts had some puddles on them, but that did not stop us. We had to research the rules of tennis before playing because we had no knowledge about how to play. We learned about the point system, love-15-30-40 and the serving rules. A question we still have is, "What is the 4th point called?" We know love = 0, 15 = 1, 30 = 2, and 40 = 3, but what about the 4th. If our research was correct, one person wins the game by getting 4 points. If any tennis players want to help us out, please do!
Our Progress: When we first got to the tennis courts, we warmed up by serving because that is a key component in tennis. As you will be able to tell from our video, our warm up did not do us any justice. Our serving was not too good. After serving, we decided that it was time to play. Hailey and I played rock, paper, scissors to see who would serve first and Hailey won. Melia won 2 games and Hailey might have won 1. We bickered over the second game because we were not sure who won. Melia thought she won and Hailey thought she won. We overall believe that tennis is definitely not our sport. We do think it is fun, but it would not be a sport that we would enjoy just because we are not good at it. Overall Feelings: Melia: "Tennis was fun in the beginning, but when I realized I was not as good as I thought I was going to be, it got really frustrating. I was happy that I won, but it did not feel like I won because I played so bad. I would not join the tennis team because I feel that I would not enjoy the sport. Maybe if I practiced more and got better, but as of right now it is for sure a no. After we played our games, we hit some reps with my dad off camera which was fun." Hailey: "Going into tennis, I really thought I was an OG prodigy. I honestly thought that I had all the skills that I needed because I grew up playing tennis on the WII. However, it was a bright idea... but, not so accurate. I can definitely say that Melia did cheat and I DID win the second game/match, whatever it is called. Overall, tennis was fun, but for me to play it as my main sport wouldn't be fun. I am just not as talented as I want to be. With tons of practice, maybe something could potentially happen?? But, tennis is not for me!" Edited on 12/05/21: Looking back, correcting some grammatical errors. Saturday morning, 10/02/2021, we went to the 64 driving range. The results were, to say the least, very, very interesting. Watching our video back, we are absolutely embarrassed! Our first swing was terrible, dreadful to watch. But, that is just fine because what more can you expect when you have never done something like this before. Looking back, we realized that we never got our stance down. We would be unstable, pick our leg up (Melia), not look at the ball to hit it (Hailey), and plenty more. We had a little mini-competition, which you will see in the video, about who could hit the ball the farthest. Melia won the first one by swinging 170 with a driver and Hailey won the second competition by swinging 160 with an iron.
Saturday night, 10/02/2021, we went to our queen, Sophia Brady's house. She was kind enough to take us golfing at the Oak Valley Golf Course. We were only able to golf two holes because of the amount of daylight we had. It took us a few tries to actually hit the ball off of the tee, but we eventually got it. We did two par three holes because Sophia knew we were not ready for any of the big holes. Melia WON (as I knew I would) the competition of the actual holes. On the first whole, Melia shot 7 so she was 4 over par and Hailey shot 8 so she was 5 over par. On the second hole, Melia shot 8 so she was 5 over par and Hailey shot 9 so she was 6 over par. Overall Feelings: Melia: "Golfing was actually super fun! I have always wanted to try golfing and this gave me a reason to do so. I would definitely keep doing golf because it was super fun, but I obviously need more practice. Golfing is actually pretty challenging so creds to those who do it really well." Hailey: "I really enjoyed golfing. I definitely underestimated how hard it would be though. The funny thing was that I was sore after the first day!"
