Last week of Genius Hour, what can you say? It has been tremendously hectic. Project, after project, after project it seems like. Coming back after Thanksgiving Break hits very hard. However, for our last and final week of Genius Hour, most of our days have been consisted of finishing up some final editing on our sports videos and working on our final presentation. Hailey finally has gone back and finished editing and added final touches to the sports videos. We have looked over our website as well to make sure that everything looks neat and in place. The last thing that we need to worry about now is working on the final presentation and rehearsing it before the big day comes: PRESENTATION DAY!
BY THE WAY, ALL VIDEOS ARE UP AND READY TO GO! BE SURE TO CHECK THOSE BAD BOYS OUT! (ESPECIALLY IF YOU WANT A GOOD LAUGH!) Also, Hailey has gone back and edited all of the blog posts to make sure that they look amazing and ready to go. Hailey can definitely say that editing videos are not hard, but it is not easy. It can be very time-consuming, but watching the final product is what keeps the mood alive. Lots of hard work has been put into this project to make it look the best as it can be. One thing that we have both learned is that you should NOT wait until the last minute to do something. For example, GENIUS HOUR. You have twelve weeks to do it. DO NOT wait until the final week to get your website set up and ready to go. It is not worth it. All in all, Genius Hour has been a bittersweet ride for both of us, to say the least. We have had our bumps on the road, but that is okay. The main point of this project is to show your progress, whether that is success or even failure. For us, we have been through both. Well, until next time, goodbye Genius Hour!

This has been a very ironic experience for us. For the first time in forever, we had finally had a designated time and day set aside for us to film our Genius Hour sports videos. Our busy schedules and our awful time management were usually the two things that had put us behind where we wanted to be with editing/filming our videos. However, it was not our busy schedules or time that interfered with us not being able to film. Sadly COVID struck one of the Athletic Beasts. Due to Melia getting COVID, I (Hailey) sadly had to play basketball by myself. However, I did have help from a special guest.(stay tuned to see who that is) Without having my partner in crime right beside me for our last sport, my special guest helped with film and he gave me pointers on how to really play basketball.
I went to the YMCA in Mocksville. While I was there, I did some layups to warm up. I only did the right side though because I do not like doing the left side. (I don't know.. it just feels weird to me to do it on the left side) Then, I decided to do a few jump shots from different places on the court, I surprisingly did not do too bad while doing those. I lowkey impressed myself. Next, I got some footage of me dribbling with the master skills that I uphold. And of course, to end it all, I shot some threes. Definitely, something I will need to work on as you will be able to tell whenever we upload our videos. Out of all of the 5 threes that I shot, I made 1 out of 5. However, the last shot I made was a corner shot. #Yolo Overall Feelings: Hailey: "Overall, I give this experience a 8/10. It was fun, but it just wasn't the same without having Melia there. I felt like it made everything harder without having my partner. Overall, I had fun, but it would have been better if Melia was there." Melia: “I would have loved to be apart of basketball this week, but sadly I got COVID. Luckily my symptoms were mild and I was not in that bad of shape. I am so proud of Hailey for still continuing to do Genius Hour even though I was not able to do it with her.” |
